Puerto Almanza

Puerto Almanza is a small fishing village that blends a superb culinary experience with stunning natural landscapes. Located on the shores of the Beagle Channel, it is renowned for its artisanal king crab fishing.

Approximately 40 families live in Puerto Almanza, most of whom work in fishing, mussel and clam farming, and running family-style restaurants. The village also has a primary school, a police station, and outposts of both the Argentine Navy and Coast Guard.

How to Get to Puerto Almanza

Puerto Almanza is located 75 km from Ushuaia. To get there by car, take National Route 3 north for about 38 km, then turn onto Provincial Route J and follow it to Provincial Route K, which leads directly to the village. The road is in good condition, although it may become impassable in winter due to snow.

Public transport: There are no public buses or minivans servicing Puerto Almanza.

Guided tours: Several travel agencies in Ushuaia offer tours to Puerto Almanza, usually including lunch.

By helicopter: Puerto Almanza has a helipad, and there are companies in Ushuaia that offer scenic helicopter flights to the area.
